MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
Youth Female Focused

Humans First, Athletes Second

2022 DETAILS ANNOUNCED JANUARY!!

2021 DETAILS:

What:

The mentorship program is aimed at helping young female mountain bike riders realize their full potential and is geared towards providing our athletes with all the tools necessary to succeed on and off the bike.  This program aims to create a space for not only mountain bike skill development, but a training ground for virtues such as integrity, respect, resilience and self-improvement and worth that is not tied to results or achievements.

Alongside a supportive and fun environment, youth can expect:

  • One day per month group session on bike skills and mental strength techniques alongside competitive strategy coaching.

  • One virtual workshop per month group session via Zoom with key note speakers on different topics such as:

  1. Goal setting.

  2. Navigating the athletic world.

  3. Lessons from injuries and redefining failure.

  4. Breathwork and mindfulness.

  5. Other important tools to navigate the mountain bike industry (and life!).

  • Monthly phone or Zoom check ins individually with your mentor Katrina Strand, tailored to each athlete's goals and objectives.  This is an opportunity to explore personal goals and objectives, reflect on the month of riding and/or workshops or tackle any other enquiry you may have.

We are excited to offer this program in collaboration with the Sea to Sky’s leading coaches and businesses!  We are joining Hilltop MTB which will expand the opportunity to experience a mentorship and development program that is tailored to the needs and specifications of the female athlete throughout all stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development Plan.

Although all youth will occasionally come together to train in Whistler, Pemberton and Squamish, and join as a group for the workshops, most on bike training sessions and all individual check ins will connect to the location you register in.
